There are a variety of ways you can advocate for alternatives to clearcutting:
Track and respond to Timber Harvest Plans (THPs).
A blog about CA private and state lands timber harvest plans (THPs). Includes listing of California private lands timber sale plans and logging sites, and highly detailed information about proposed THPs. With current information and extensive archives, this is one of the best resources available to track THPs in CA. Visit the THP Blog at http://www.thpblog.org.
Voice your concerns with the CA Board of Forestry and Fire Protection.
The Board’s mission is to lead California in developing policies and programs that serve the public interest in environmentally, economically and socially sustainable management of forest and range lands, and a fire protection system that protects and serves the people of the State. Visit https://www.fire.ca.gov/programs/communications/for Board policies and regulations, meeting schedules and agendas, contact info for Board members, and more. The Board of Forestry now provides live web access to Board meetings (including opportunities for public comment). You can register online to participate in these meetings at the Board of Forestry website at https://www.fire.ca.gov/programs/communications/.
